While our site never had SSL (encrypted communication between you and a site), this was never much of an issue as most of the pages on our site do not ask for any information or transmit personal between your browser and our servers. The exception would be our tenant portal and application page. However, those two pages are actually connections between your web browser and our property management system which IS secure.
So even though the only two pages that have data transmitted were secure already, we decided to go ahead and upgrade our site to have SSL functionality. What does this mean for you? Well, now rather than having a “unlocked” padlock on the top left of your browser, you get a nice little ‘locked’ icon.
Cool eh? 🙂
